Heavy Metal Month II – Day 10 – A Live Track

Metallica - Live Shit: Binge & Purge

Heavy Metal Month II, Day 10) A live track

Although Metallica catches a bunch of hell these days for their failure to self-edit, they still might be my favorite live band. I would even go so far as to say the live performances of their songs are better than the original studio versions.

Case in point: Cast your minds back to 1993, the pricey (for the time) Live Shit: Binge & Purge boxed set came out with three CDs of a Mexico City concert and three VHS tapes consisting of a 1989 Seattle show and a 1992 show from San Diego. We’ll focus on the latter with Creeping Death, a perennial crowd favorite. Tell me your fist isn’t pumping in the air during the midsection of the song.

Even fast-forwarding to the modern day, check out the theatrical release of Through the Never, and you’ll see these old guys can still put on a helluva show.
