Sure, it’s a side project, but when Christopher Bowes isn’t performing “stupid songs about getting drunk and stealing treasure” as Alestorm, he’s getting together with Thomas Winkler and creating the most perfect homage/satire (?) of power metal in the galaxy as Gloryhammer.

Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards was my Album of the Year for 2015, so it only seems fitting to have a spot on this list. Tell me when you listen to the title track that you aren’t on your cosmic steed looking to drive the Astral Hammer into the skulls of goblins from the Darkstorm Galaxy.
