Heavy Metal Month II – Day 6 – Song Inspired by a Work of Literature

Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth

Heavy Metal Month II, Day 6) Song inspired by a work of literature

Sure, you could pick any number of metal works inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien, but I have to go with a song that had the biggest impact on me. Mirror Mirror was the first Blind Guardian track I ever heard, and it had so much impact, I bought Nightfall in Middle-Earth almost instantly afterward.

Taken from The Silmarillion, Mirror Mirror retells the tale of Turgon and the Lord of Water, Ulmo, building the city of Gondolin, despite being on the verge of defeat. The song is cinematic, bombastic, and exemplifies some of the best work Blind Guardian ever put out.
